이 논문은 1997년 이후 사회의 중요한 문제로 자리잡은 원조교제를 하는 청소녀의 섹슈얼리티와 행위자성에 관한 연구이다. 청소년 성매매인 원조교제를 하는 청소녀들은 남성의 나이와 성별, 경제력 등에 의한 권력차로 인해 인간적인 모욕과 성적 학대를 당하게 마련이다. 원조교제의 이러한 심각한 문제에도 불구하고, 한국 사회는 원조교제를 하는 청소녀들에 대한 부정적인 인식을 고수하고 있는데 이것은 성적으로 순결해야 한다고 간주되는 청소녀들이 성을 매매하고 있기 때문이다. 원조교제를 하는 청소녀들에 대한 도덕적인 비난에도 불구하고 한국 사회에서 원조교제는 지속적으로 증가하고 있다. 따라서 성을 매매하는 청소녀들뿐 아니라, 원조교제가 지속적으로 증가하는 사회적인 맥락을 함께 연구할 필요가 있다. 그러나 지금까지 원조교제에 대한 연구는 원조교제를 일부 비행 청소녀에게 한정된 문제로 간주하거나, 원조교제를 하는 청소녀에만 초점을 맞추는 경향이 있었다. 그러나 이러한 연구는 원조교제를 하는 청소녀가 지속적으로 증가하고 있는 상황에서 원조교제를 하는 청소녀들을 사회의 일탈자로 낙인찍는 결과를 초래할 위험이 있다. 이 논문은 원조교제를 하는 청소녀에 대한 한국 사회의 부정적인 인식 변화의 필요성을 지적하기 위해 청소녀들이 경험하는 사회를 분석하고, 원조교제를 중심으로 청소녀의 섹슈얼리티와 행위자성을 드러내고자 하였다. 이를 위해 연구자는 사회복지법인 선도보호시설 ‘은성원’의 입소자 및 연구자와 개인적 친분이 있는 청소녀들과 심층 면접을 하였고, ‘서울시늘푸른여성정보센터’와 ‘YMCA’가 주관하는 거리상담에서 만난 청소녀와의 면접을 보조 자료로 이용하는 질적 연구방법을 사용하였다./ 이 논문의 논의 전개는 다음과 같다. 먼저, 원조교제를 하는 청소녀들의 사회적 맥락을 분석함으로써 청소녀들이 원조교제를 하도록 유도하는 사회적 여건이 조성되어 있음을 지적한다. 이를 위해 청소녀들에게 큰 영향을 미치는 조기성애화, 소비자본주의, 노동시장, 인터넷을 주된 분석 틀로 설정하고 이 안에서의 청소녀들의 경험을 다룬다. 다음으로, 이러한 사회적 맥락 안에서 원조교제를 하는 청소녀들이 성의 정치를 구현하고 있음을 드러낸다. 이들은 성 경험이 자신의 정체성을 형성하는데 부담으로 작용하지 않는 문화를 만들어가고 있는데, 이는 청소녀들의 성적 행위가 도덕적 타락과 동일시되는 가부장적 성문화에 대응되는 것이다. 마지막으로, 이러한 성의 정치를 통해 원조교제를 하는 청소녀들이 행위자성을 지니게 됨을 강조한다. 이들은 원조교제를 하는 청소녀들에 대한 사회적인 담론을 간파하고, 자신이 처한 상황에서 여러 가지 전략들을 시도하고 있다. 또한 원조교제를 하면서 받은 상처에 좌절하지 않고 자신의 미래를 긍정적으로 설계하고 그것을 실현시키기 위해 노력하고 있다. 이들의 행위자성을 부각시키는 것은 원조교제를 하는 청소녀들을 지원하기 위한 문화정치적 해석이 될 것이다./ 원조교제를 하는 청소녀들은 대부분 지지기반을 갖고 있지 못할 뿐 아니라 사회로부터 주변화되고있기 때문에 이들이 설계하는 미래를 실현시키는 데에는 많은 어려움이 따른다. 원조교제를 하는 청소녀들은 대부분 다시 사회의 인정을 받는 성원이 되고자하지만, 이들에 대한 부정적인 사회 인식과 주변화는 그들의 소망을 위협하고 있다. 청소녀들이 새로운 성의 정치를 구현함으로써 그들이 행위자성을 담지할 수 있었던 것처럼 한국 사회도 가부장적인 성문화를 변화시키려는 노력을 해야 한다. 그리고, 미래에 다른 방식으로 사회에 참여하기 위해 노력하는 원조교제를 하는 청소녀들을 지원하는 사회적인 성숙함을 지니는 것이 필요하다.// 

[영문]This paper is about the sexuality and agency of teenage girls engaged in "Wonjogyoje(Enjogosai in Japanese)" or teenage prostitution which has been a serious problem in South Korea since the late 1990s. Teenage girls doing Wonjokyoje suffer from insults and ill-treatment because of the disparity in age, gender, and economic power with their male clients. Despite these problems, because teenage girls engaged in prostitution are considered "impure", they are stigmatized by society. In spite of this stigma, Wonjokyoje continues to be a rising problem. Therefore there is a need to study not only the teenage girls who are engaged in prostitution but also the social context for the expansion of teenage prostitution. However, studies on Wonjokyoje up to now were limited in considering Wonjokyoje to be an act committed only by a few "problem" teenage girls and focusing in general only on the teenage girls. These studies have the danger of stigmatizing the teenage girls as social deviants within a context where incidents of Wonjokyoje are steadily increasing. In order to show the need for a change in social attitudes towards teenage girls doing Wonjokyoje, this paper examines the sexuality and agency of teenage girls by analyzing their experiential world. To do this, I conducted in-depth interviews with teenage girls in a social-welfare institution: , and youth hostel, as well as with teenage girls from a street counselling center run by and . / The thesis is organized as follows: First, I indicate the social factors that lead to prostitution by teenage girls by analysing the social context of teenage girls doing Wonjokyoje. Early sexualization, consuming capitalism, labor market, and the Internet are used as the analytical frameworks to examine the experiences of teenage girls. Secondly, I show how teenage girls doing Wonjokyoje are engaged in sexual politics within these social contexts. Through trying to create a culture where their sexual experiences are not held against them during the construction of their identities, they confront a patriarchal sexual culture that considers their sexuality to be a moral depravity. Finally, I emphasize the agency of teenage girls doing Wonjokyoje through these sexual politics. Critical of the social discourses that stigmatize teenage girls doing Wonjokyoje, they employ various strategies to disable them. Overcoming the pains suffered during Wonjokyoje, these teenage girls are creating and putting into a practice plans for their own futures. The cultural politics of interpreting and uncovering the agency of teenage girls doing Wonjokyoje can support them./It is very hard for teenage girls doing Wonjokyoje to realize their dreams because of lack of social support and social stigma. / Many teenage girls doing Wonjokyoje want to be members of society but the socially-negative attitudes towards them marginalize them and endanger their hopes. As teenage girls realize their agency through sexual politics, Korean society has to change its patriarchal sexual culture. It also needs to support teenage girls doing Wonjokyoje who are trying to participate in society in other ways./
